New Event-GX Team 126 spend two days working at Sinza Maalum special school

The Global Xchange team spent two days last week working at Sinza Maalum special school as part of a community action day. Sinza Malaam is a school in Kinondoni that caters for children with physical disability and learning difficulties. The team of 18 volunteers, 9 from the UK and 9 from Tanzania wanted to improve the learning environment of the children's classroom by creating some new and colourful posters to put on the walls. The team spent one day cleaning the walls of the classrooms and preparing them for the new posters and a second working with the children to decorate and colour in the new posters. They designed number charts, alphabet charts with pictures for each letter, posters to teach about hygiene, daily routine, mathematics and the family. The team worked hard to make a difference to the children's classrooms in the hope that a cleaner, brighter environment will help their learning and development. The team will continue to work closely with TYC for the next 5 weeks.

Some of the pupils at Sinza Malaam special school help the volunteers to colour in a big tree.
